Cici! Candy!
Candice climbed up on the Advertisement on wheels after the end of the show. The back alley was bustling and wet. She knew if she didn't put herself somewhere obvious she might just go home with a stained jacket or discolored skin. The mass of people was pushing ever closer to the backstage vehicle exit. Candice could tell it would be some time before anyone would be able to get through them to get to where she was, so she slid down to sit on the roof of the SUV. With her legs hanging wide apart, she began to drum against the rear window.
The longer she kept on, the more involved the rhythm became. in-between certain beats she began to clap. Without even trying she was drumming a specific song. She tried to remember what it was.
"pick it up, Pick It Up!" The tune started humming its way out of her throat. It was as if some divine source was using her to be her own sisters exit music. As he song was ending there was a screeching of fangirls gushing for her dear little sister. Candice let her have a good 20 seconds of face time, then began to pound her drum beat much more definitely. She inhaled and prepared her self to embarrass everyone.
"O Cecelia
you're breaking my heart
you're shaking my confidence daily,
WO, Cecelia
I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you please
to come home
Candice started banging on the rooftop defiantly
"Cecelia
you're breaking my heart
you're shaking my confidence daily,
WO, Cecelia
I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you please
to come home
Come on home...
Candice continued on, really giving them all a show. The fangirls seems highly uncomfortable in this highly homosexual plea for the return of their adored one's affections. A group of young men who were clustered around the van to wait for their girlfriends stared hard at the girl singing her silly little song. Candice looked around at them and started to nod in understanding. She leaned herself out a bit to show how to drum this. Two of them started, clumsily, and continued in a steady -1 -2 -3 -4 beat. Others followed.
"boh- boh- boh~- boh~-boh~- boh- boh- boh~- boh~- boh- boh~- boh-~ boh-boh-boh-"
A low cheer rose from a few guttural voices. One of the young men called out "SING IT CANDY."
"Pick it up, Pick It UP!"
One of the girls crowding around Cecilia smiled in shared acknowledgment, while the others started looking to one another to make sure they knew what was happening.
"Sing it With me!"
She nodded around to everyone and the music was coming to a head. Candice slipped down to the wet concrete, still clapping. The voices raised themselves from the dark, damp night.
"Jubilation, she loves me again!
I fall on the floor and I'm laughing."
She let the crowd finish her song while she approached her darling little sister. The fangirls moved aside to let her through.
Cecelia's smile was hidden behind her hand. Her eyes were wet looking, but could have been anything.
With a slightly shaky voice she questioned her sister. "What was that about?"
"It just happened! I was all there, doing nothing, thinking nothing, and there it was, doing it through me!" Candice turned toward the people standing around and called out, "The Lord works in Mysterious ways! Hallelujah!"
In response she got some Amens and some Hallelujahs, but mostly it was applause.
"So," Cecilia put on a powerful smirk and narrowed her eyes, "you came here to make a fool out of yourself didn't you?"
"Well you know, Life is like a box of chocolates..."
"I think you mean, stupid is as stupid does."
"Foolish people do foolish things."
Cecilia crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, "Oh, don't I know that?" Candice grinned wide, "Are you glad you had such a caring older sister to make it look like she is retarded so you never have to?"
Her voice was peppered with sarcasm, "I am just the luckiest girl in the whole world."
The pair swept their vision across 2 different halves of the crowd. Most of which turned away upon catching their eyes in order to pretend they hadn't been watching. Candice leaned into her sister while keeping her eyes on everyone else. Whispering she asked, "I suppose you still have some work to do?"
The other girl responded in kind, "Unfortunately."
Candice looked for a little inlet in the buildings on either side. When she spotted one she gave her little sister a quick wink, flew her eyes to where she would be, and walked off. In silence she moved to her destination surrounded by people who seemed to want just a little bit more. She wasn't going to have it. She made no eye contact with anyone as she swaggered away from the mass of bodies. Her walk advertised her unapproachable, and this made her glad, because it assured that no one would be bothering her, now or ever, unless they had invitations with very specific instructions for the behavior she accepted. But she, being she indeed, was not in the business of entertaining visitors.
Unless, of course, they were clever enough to find and take a season pass.
Cecilia jumped into the doorway in which her big sister had been hiding. "I have finished!"
"Well Done! Thank you for all your hard work! Shall I take you for something to show my gratitude for your performance?"
"If you're treating!"
"Well, actually, just spent my last fiver on thrift store boots and now I am broke until the next tour."
"Jebus crystanthemun, can't you hold onto your money for a single day?"
"see, it's like this, Chariz-"
"That Girl is a bad influence on you!"
"I know, horrendous, she is the one who got me not to care about how people saw me."
"And started you on the long-disabling wagon ride to Lush-topia"
"What do you think of the sound of 'Lushopolis'?"
"are you even listening to me?"
"Are we fighting or playing?"
Cecilia took a moment to rub the right side of her forehead.
"I am loaded, what do you want to eat?"
"...I dunno"
"All these hard nights on the road, but now you have me here to take care of you." Candice put her arm around her sister's neck and pulled her close. "What have you been longing for?"
"Dim Sum"
"Allright! I know a quaint little place... somewhere around somewhere..." She pulled out her PDA and began to look for the information.
"no..." Cecilia squeezed closer into the embrace, "I want big sister's dim sum."
