First Draft

Ok I've had enough of what we've been saying
I get it, you like push and shove
but here's the thing, they think we're adults
don't get me wrong, I really love
to play with you like this
so when I cover my mouth
you can save your face
and the joke will be ours alone

Watch me from the wings
behind the curtains
and learn what I am trying to say
cause there is one way or another
of expressing these Ideals
so if we must speak with passion
then let us wine and dine
and we'll figure it out

you know how to speak
the voice has always been there
to take your throat into your hands
and look for your range
make sounds, the words will come
so when people ask you "whats up?"
you've got something to say
that we can all understand

this is the world, and here the universe
and this is how far we have you in
so as we try, this grand cosmos
Spins and orbits and quakes
but this is where we stand
the floor is solid enough
to keep us from crashing
into the nothingness that surrounds

the human is a social creature
strong, proud, nature bound
If you are hungry, tend to the fields
if you are tired, rest in open air
we are all people, we all know
what its like cause we've all been there
so look her directly in the eyes
and say what it is you came to say

Is there any book or computer or man
who knows what you know?
Get in front of her, demand attention
use your words and only your words
you can put yourself out there
Will you put yourself out there?
just to see if it takes you there
but if not, your friends are here.

we're all behind you
since we can all chase our dreams here
Stand tall dear heart
you're all a phone call or IM away
from finding one another
we've all got hardships to overcome
there is someone who needs you
and I've been asked to stay seated

My time will come, I promise you that
if we meet again I'll be grateful
I'll hold my own heart above my head
So if I get distracted on my way
someone will show me what's right
you'll always know where I am
If you keep your eyes open
you'll find the things you've lost

We're all looking for someone like us
We're all scared to death of loneliness
but if you're not one hundred percent
don't jump into these arms
unless you're planning to stay right here
this heart of mine belongs somewhere
I'm just looking for where that is
a place where people care-a-lot

Take my hand and lead me away
look me in the eyes and tell me
you want what it is I have to give
keep your dip stick behind that denim
keep your hands above my shoulders
hold my lips to yours, speak to me
without a voice, without a sound
show me, teach me what it is you feel

If this becomes what you didn't want
its your responsibility to let me know
I've been here telling you the truth
All I ask is that you express yourself
So our hearts can live unbounded
So we aren't always hurt and tired
we can hold on until we go away
or maybe you would tag along

The decision is yours to make
If you choose to not want me there
then don't be mad when i've moved on
forgive me for not chasing you down
I have better things to do
than hold onto what wants me gone
Someone out there loves me the most
someone out there wants me home

When you see me reaching for you
don't pretend you don't see
approach me tell me your own thoughts
if you don't like the look of my hand
do whatever you choose
everyone gets what they deserve
right now I believe I'm owed this
come and tell me if I am all wrong

Cause I've had enough of all of this
I get that we're all still learning
but here's the thing, we are adults
don't get me wrong, I really love
being able to do this with you
so when I beckon you over
you can share your laugh
with someone
