I've Had... a Couple

Those 'I know better' eyes
are tried or bored
With your hand planted to your hip
I am certain I have done wrong

I'll put on my something spare
after I find an outfit to wear
your black jeans are on the floor
and you walk out the door

It's better than nothing at all
since you wont touch me now
I might as well have another
to help write this all out

A stench filters out of my room
Bringing you back far too soon
With your arms on the back of my chair
I guess none of us are playing fair

You make the sound of eating
Your mouth on the back of my head
until you fall into the photograph
sending your words tumbling out

I lick my lips to savor the flavor
of your heart pounding desire
I offer up a second chance
For us to hit the dance

But the floor is cluttered
with the discarded clothes
of the man you pretend to be
I am swinging to the sounds

While you can't stand the sight
if you close your eyes tight
my lips can be the ones you want
until you're ready for the hunt

Hush little darling
don't say a word
Daddy has brought you
a sweet little mockingbird

woo ah haha la dee da
ano suimasen chotto masuka
rebirth and reverse
Now you've got me singing in verse

While we are super heroes
locked in time and place
you've got your plans
That seem to fall into my dreams

invoke the ecstasy of triumph
I will provide more than enough
and if you'll have me now or never
pick one for the sake of forever

I turn my head, I pucker up
you smack my cheek
my heart is not warmed
by the state of your confusion

While the star is filled with ash
it's no reason for us to be so crass
so if I offer up my hand
don't act like you can't stand

When everyone else is sleeping
We can stay up all night
quietly making songs of love
till the pent up feelings eat us

I'll snap my fingers with the beat
while the rocking builds up heat
I'll send you reeling into it
as long as you promise to forget

When you remember why
you removed my clothes
maybe the vision will take you
grooving into my metronome

time has passed us by
leaving us wondering why
We have nothing but tonight
To try and make it right

The rainy days left us cold
the shower soaked us through
wrap me up in a thin throw
and I'll share myself with you

The clock is ticking away
begging us to throw away
the pasts that hold us apart
making us play these parts

so hold your chest to mine
give me a reason to stand
touch me once more again
to see where you want to be
