Speed Racer

I can't write with you standing over my shoulder
I can't think with you always coming at me
I can't move when you are staring expectantly

Ask one more question
I'll make one more decision
Raise that eye brow again
It might make something begin
But if I check the time
and spout another rhyme
When you look away
laughing, sending me astray

it won't matter at all
How long we wasted
Cause everything else
will end eventually

Still

I can't live without you standing beside me
I can't think without you always coming home
I can't move without you staring expectantly

Tell me one more lie
to ignore the good bye
If there is no joy here
give me the wheel I'll steer
look into my purse
we'll outrun this curse
across the freeway
jetting from that decay

it wont matter at all
if we break down there
Cause everything else
will stop eventually

I won't be living without you
I won't be thinking without you
I won't be moving without you

We must have drive
a feeling to keep us alive
patience is a virtue
I am going to get to you
Pride is a deadly sin
which brings you closer in
I can't help but smile
as we zip through another mile

it wont matter at all
when we run out of fuel
Cause everything else
will quit eventually

I want you standing beside me
I want you coming inside me
I want you moving next to me

The rush of air
The rush of run
coursing dots
sliding against green
horses or cars
let them worry
this destiny
is mine to hold
and if the girl
loves wild horses
she will always
run away from
and into you
without regard

I need you striving beside me
I need you striding along with me
I need you moving in with me

There are a kabillion things
to think about what this brings
and about a gazillion reasons
to neglect our own seasons
but who has the time
to worry about a dime
when the future rings
you have to be ready for spring

it wont matter at all
where we end up
Cause everything else
will start eventually

Anyway

Tell me about your dream
So I'll know if I fit into the scheme
If we have some similarity
we might avoid the calamity
and if we fight back creatively
it should make this place more lively
all this pent up excitement
will become my testament

I won't be living without you
I won't be thinking without you
I won't be moving without you
