Shhhhh

She has a void in her heart
and you can't figure out how to fill it
you beg me to help now that i've turned away
when I wasn't enough help when I was there

Doesn't a man's friends stay out of his business?
So don't lose hope, you're smart enough
to figure out what to do on your own.
your only choice is to be your own man.

Take her into your arms, welcome her into your home
slip into the comfort of her company.
she will let you be the man you want to be
so hush little darling, and warm up to the fire

Ours was no monumental failure
And I never minded that you kept on going
I told you that you weren't getting anywhere
The reality of it is no ones cross to bear

The season is not all that hard to stand
But trying to care is more than I can muster
seeing as you lived for so long before me
you can always go on and on without it

water has no right to be fire.
the one is always squelching together with itself
while the other expands out exponentially
hydrate and clean or warm and illuminate.

If I burn up from all the chaos
I'll figure out how to build once more from ash
With the power of earth and water
I can grow a brand new flower.

Don't let what I'm doing now bother you
remember who's roof I live beneath
those two years could never trump our eleven
the way its going we might not beat your fifteen.

I don't mind if you walk away now or later
I'm just glad to be alive to say I knew you
since you went to the trouble to show me something else
I will be able to thank you when I am reborn.

Breathe in then exhale, expunge the shadows
I brought to life parts you can't seem to handle
So why not let the machine run itself?
Enjoy being along for the ride.

you assure me every time you get me cornered
that I was nothing more than a bad influence
letting you talk about the things people silence
for longer than what would be acceptable.

I'm glad to listen to your problems
But I am not getting paid professionally
You have an extremely innovative escape plan
and a catalyst to set it into motion.

I don't want to go into space, I've been there twice before
if the hellfire eats me alive, even if the burning scorches my soul
I want to stay within the wreckage
until I find the beauty which I know is here

Take her into your arms, welcome her into your home
slip into the comfort of her company.
she will let you be the man you want to be
so hush little darling, and warm up to the fire

circles, squares, polygons, rush past me
imprinting their images into my life
I want to see where this sensation takes me now
it always just was something but now it is special.

The being you want to hold is dizzy
swinging, twirling, spinning into the spirits of geometry
every square is a rectangle.
but not every rectangle is a square

But that's years old news
I am yearning to learn something new
I'm not afraid of drowning, I'll figure some way out
to show you what I always wanted to be.

If you really believe in it then it'll be true
If you can't trust in the space left for a heart
Then trust in me. I've steered plenty of people wrong
by giving them what they think they want.

You derailed without casualties
That's a good thing, cause no one was hurt
I would say you weren't paying attention
While I was delivering precious letters.

All the love syphoned off for you
fell around me all the time
for you in particular, it finished in a finite sprint
There's nothing I can do about it now

I'll just keep moving 'till I find a safe place to stand
I can't worry about what it will be
I don't want to direct my course
I will land where I am meant to be.

So, Take her into your arms, welcome her into your home
slip into the comfort of her company.
she will let you be the man you want to be
so hush my old friend, and warm up to the fire.
