Morning After

because i always do it wrong

my money always runs out at the wrong time
my car always breaks down when you needa ride
so were stuck inside watching cable tv
sucking down ten cent ramen
assuring one another next month will be better

waking up is hard to do
after a proper breakup

because you always do it wrong

your bank account is always stuck at five
no work to pass your time alone
so you're stuck inside waiting out the day
hoping something will come along
telling yourself next month will be better

waking up is hard to do
after a proper breakup

weeks became months
two, four, six, then ten
electric, gas, and rent
and my paycheck's all gone

the little you can do the better
but it all flies away
into the mouths of bigger fried fish

all i can do to stay ok
is search for shooting stars
to make an extravagant wish

because we cant make it right
because we're both unhappy
because we are losing one another

the morning after
lost more than money
but we decided together
not to continue on this way

you're on a plane to the west
thinking about me in the east
i'm on a bus headed south
thinking about you going north

drifting into painless sleep
held in black warmth
cuz waking up is hard to do
after a proper breakup
